Roofliss ride will make lucky father's day

Five-year-old Hugh Straker has won his father, Matt, a ride on Roofliss for Father's Day.
The Witherlea school student's entry was drawn from among those who entered a Mark Stevenson First National Real Estate promotion to win their father a ride on Picton Harbour in the amphibious van that crossed Cook Strait 12 months ago.
Mr Stevenson said Hugh said his dad should win "because he built us a go-kart, and a tree hut".
Roofliss was created by aircraft engineers from Base Woodbourne, Dan Melling and Adam Turnbull, who drove it across Cook Strait.
Mark Stevenson First National Real Estate then bought the van in a Trade Me auction.
Members of the public are invited to Shelly Beach at Picton to watch what is expected to be the final outing on the water for Roofliss and to meet Mr Melling and Mr Turnbull. Those keen to have a go themselves can bid in an auction for two rides, he said. Money raised would be donated to Hospice Marlborough.
Mark Stevenson First National Real Estate has sold Roofliss to the Edwin Fox Maritime Museum in Picton for $1, so it can be put on public display.
Roofliss will be handed over to the Edwin Fox Society for safekeeping within the museum next to the Picton ferry terminal.
Also on Sunday, an ambulance, police car, fire engine, the Picton Coastguard Rescue boat and more will be on display near Shelly Beach, to provide a great Father's Day outing.
A gold coin donation for the Picton Emergency Building fund would be appreciated.
