Relevant offers

The first Festival of Nelson Lakes is on this weekend. The organiser, Destination Nelson Lakes, is using the theme "land, water, air" to showcase this patch of paradise.

On offer are microlight and light-plane scenic flights, informative walks and talks, a foot-stomping Irish musician called Bus Man's Handbag, EarthSpirit Music by Sika and Caitlin, didgeridoo lessons, and an outdoor movie.

The Conservation Department will run environment-related activities for children, including treasure hunts and quizzes, while children's entertainer Carrot and Pickle is coming up from Christchurch. Skifield open

At $10 per vehicle, the Rainbow Skifield will be open both days during the festival from 10am to 4pm.

Allow 40 minutes to drive each way.

Those who get a lift up the mountain may want to trek down through Parachute Rocks but transport will be limited on Sunday afternoon.
