The Marlborough Chamber of Commerce has written to all members, urging them to submit on the King Salmon proposal.

The letter includes material from King Salmon explaining their expansion plans.

Marlborough Chamber of Commerce general manager Brian Dawson said the chamber supported King Salmon's application.

But the important thing was for businesses to have their input into the Environmental Protection Authority process considering the application, he said. It would have far-reaching effects for Marlborough.

"People need to express their views. While surveys and letters to the newspaper are interesting, the important thing is that people put in submissions to the EPA," Mr Dawson said.

"The EPA can only make a fully informed decision if they have heard from a broad cross-section of the community. It is vital that Marlborough business bring balance to this argument."

Mr Dawson said King Salmon were members of the chamber of commerce. He acknowledged in the letter sent to members that not all members were in favour of the proposal.
