A cup of Al Brown, a pinch of humour, a sprinkling of stories and a large slice of audience is all that is needed for a good time tonight.
Mr Brown wears many hats including, celebrity chef, co-owner of Logan Brown Restaurant and Bar, TV presenter of Hunger For The Wild, author, entrepreneur, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise ambassador chef, not to mention husband and father.
Sighting a link between gardeners and chefs, proclaiming his love for Marlborough and an invitation he could not resist, Mr Brown flew into Blenheim yesterday.
Tonight at the Marlborough Civic Theatre he will demonstrate his favourite dishes using Prenzel products while telling stories about his life to an audience who will sample his cuisine and receive a copy of the recipes he demonstrates.
Mr Brown grew up in a small town in the Wairarapa.
After high school he worked as a shepherd before heading to Wellington where he worked in a food court making wontons.
"I thought that I had landed the biggest and best job in the world."
From there it was a progression through hospitality and a fateful meeting with Steve Logan, who later became his business partner.
Mr Brown then headed overseas gaining a culinary arts degree from the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont.
His skills saw him move to Brussells to be the chef for the New Zealand Embassy.
Mr Brown said he and Steve decided to go into business together, spending the better part of two years planning to open Logan Brown.
The pair worked for seven years to pay off opening their restaurant but Mr Brown said it was worth it.
After designing and selling a barbecue tool belt the next challenge was a TV show. "The idea really was to show Logan Brown as more than a fancy restaurant. We wanted to show what we were really like."
The pair travelled around New Zealand hunting and gathering their food then cooking it in the wild.
A self proclaimed natural entertainer, Mr Brown cannot wait to take centre stage tonight.
