Two women are in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Christchurch Hospital after a car they were in crashed into a tree on Inland Rd, near Kaikoura, on Monday.
No other details of their injuries or condition were available yesterday.
A hospital spokeswoman said a man from the same car had been admitted to a general ward and was in a comfortable condition.
Another man in the car at the time of the crash had been treated and discharged, she said.
The four people, all from North Canterbury, were travelling towards Kaikoura when their car left the road and crashed head-on into a large tree. No other vehicles were involved. The accident happened just before 2.30pm on Monday.
