The Thompson family, from left, Kate, 9, Patrick, 7, Henry, 11 and Joe, 5, front, braved cold weather and gusty winds on Saturday night for Blenheim's annual Walk in the Park in the Dark.
About a dozen families showed up at Wither Hills Farm Park, off Rifle Range Pl in Blenheim, for the event, but the event had been postponed.
Parents, expecting hot drinks, a sausage sizzle and spot prizes, were disappointed by the "no show" of the organisers. Regardless, they headed off shortly after 5pm with torches and glow sticks.
However, the event was put off until this Saturday night because of the weather. Go Marlborough director Duncan Mackenzie said someone was organised to go to the park to tell people the event had been postponed. He could not say for sure whether this had happened as he was out of town and the designated person was unavailable. The postponement had been carried on Classic Hits, Radio Hauraki, Newstalk ZB, ZMFM and Radio Sport.
The event will run to the same plan this Saturday.
