The disappearance of phone books from Picton's NZ PostShop is "rotten", an elderly resident says.
The woman contacted The Marlborough Express after she went to NZ Post in Mariner's Mall and was told by staff that Yellow, the company that supplies the phone books, stopped supplying them to the shops at the start of the year.
"I thought it was rotten," she said.
"They used to have them, I'm sure they don't cost that much to make, and now they've just stopped it."
NZ Post staff confirmed that the books were no longer available and said the company had stopped supplying them to post offices throughout the country at the start of the year.
The resident said there was certainly room for the phone books in the NZ PostShop.
"We could've had a dance in the middle of the place, the whole shop seemed empty. It's just not on, what help is it to anyone?"
Yellow was unavailable for comment. Phone books are available from most public libraries.
