A driver accidentally hit the panic alarm button in a security van and triggered a police callout to the Picton ferry terminal.
Police rushed to the Interislander ferry terminal before 9am yesterday morning, after initial concerns of a burglary, but it turned out to be a false alarm. Senior Constable Paul McKenzie, of Picton, said there was "nothing to tell".
The van's driver, believed to work for a transit company, was moving an Armourguard security van around the ferry terminal off Lagoon Rd when he accidentally sparked the alert.
He appeared to have mistakenly hit the vehicle's emergency alarm activation button.
An Armourguard staff member who attended the scene declined to comment and several phone calls made to Armourguard yesterday went unanswered.
