Jet-boaters make most of Marlborough flooding
While some fret over the flooding in Marlborough, others make the best of a bad situation.
A group of keen jet-boaters whizzed up and down the Omaka River, in Blenheim, after heavy rain caused it to flood last week.
Blenheim resident David Trolove said he and his family heard what sounded like chainsaws outside their Dog Point Rd home.
"I've never seen anything like it on the Omaka, it's not usually jet-boating territory," he said.
"We live by the river and the family heard them coming and watched in amazement as they went past up-stream.
"We then heard them coming back down again and I hurried out in time to catch it on video."
The boaters gave a thumbs up as they jetted past the family, Trolove said.
It was unclear who was behind the wheel, but hopefully they would see the video, he said.
