Dancers from nine dance schools and groups will be showing off their moves in Blenheim next week as the annual Celebration of Dance show returns to showcase the region's talent.

The July 21 show would feature 22 dancers performing styles including ballet, jazz, salsa, tap, hip hop, cha cha, Irish and burlesque, Marlborough 4 Fun chief executive Katrina Lange said.

The organisation started the show in 2008, but put on hold last year because there were a lot of other dance events on and to build momentum for the show, Mrs Lange said.

"Sometimes it's good to give events a bit of a break, so everyone's excited about them when they come back. We had a lot of people ask if we were going to do it again."

Among the people asking to bring back the show were Star Dance academy owners Stayz and Larissa Raukawa, and the academy is helping organise the show.

Proceeds would go towards helping a group of about 30 Star Dance students represent New Zealand at the Sydney Latin Festival in January, as well as helping fund Marlborough 4 Fun community events, Mrs Lange said.

The show will be at the Boathouse Theatre, Blenheim, rather than its previous venue, the Floorpride Marlborough Civic Theatre.

"It's going to give it a fresh feel and it's such a romantic little theatre, we love it," Mrs Raukawa said.

A Celebration of Dance is on July 21 at the Boathouse Theatre. There are 2pm and 7.30pm shows. Tickets can be bought from FloorPride Marlborough Civic Theatre.
