A maximum 10-year extended supervision order against Murray Stewart Wilson, the 65-year-old dubbed the Beast of Blenheim, has been imposed by the High Court.

Wilson, jailed for sex offences in 1996, has to be released from prison on September 1. He will be under parole conditions for three years until September 1, 2015.

After hearing a day of legal argument in the High Court at Christchurch last week, Justice Graham Lang today issued his written decision, imposing the maximum 10-year extended supervision on Wilson from when the parole conditions expire in September 2015.

He described Wilson as presenting "a rare and special case" and said: "He will remain at risk of offending against young females well beyond the expiry of his release conditions."
