The luxury Marlborough accommodation and corporate hospitality business Brancott Ridge did not go to auction as scheduled on Monday.
Bayleys Marlborough agent Tim Crawford said the decision was made to find a buyer by private tender because of complications to do with the payment of GST.
The property had attracted a lot of interest from people with different ideas, including operating it as a bed-and-breakfast or use as a private residence.
This made it difficult to auction because some buyers wanted a price inclusive of GST and some a price exclusive of GST.
