US favourite looks to local talent

Young bands in Marlborough will have the chance to play alongside the runner-up of the popular 2005 US reality TV series Rock Star INXS.

The fans' favourite, Marty Casey, is playing at the Loft on January 17 and organisers are hoping for at least two bands to play with him.

"Marty wants to work with some young talent from Marlborough on the night," Builders Arms co-owner Julian Campbell said.

"We want bands and or individuals to play some of their own original material as well as some of the stuff from their normal set list."
