Laughs, drinks and nibbles - and a movie - can be enjoyed in Blenheim tonight for a good cause.
Tickets to the film, a French comedy Le Chef, are $20 each and sales will help two Marlborough Boys' College students compete in the 2012 New Zealand Culinary Fare.
Year-12 food technology students Jamie Perrott and Daniel Davidson are making complimentary, pre-movie canapes to serve guests from 6.30 tonight.
Preparing the snacks is just one of the ways they are polishing their food-handling skills for the event.
From August 18 the Culinary Fare will be three days of competition involving hundreds of chefs and trainees.
Food technology teacher Carolyn Brown will go to Auckland with the students and says one of the event's attractions is the chance for the boys to watch some of the country's best chefs competing for the top titles: New Zealand Chef of the Year and New Zealand Restaurant of the Year.
The $20 Le Chef tickets can be bought from the Blenheim Top Town Cinema.
