The dentistry service at Queen Charlotte College will be expanded to take on private customers for at least one day per week starting next month.
Dental practice Durrheim and Associates will open its clinic on the college grounds to private customers in mid-September to make the most of the site, which currently services only students.
The practice will cover general dentistry and was considering offering free check-ups over the first few weeks of opening to advertise its presence. A hygienist will be on site with a dentist.
Durrheim and Associates dentist Jason Bradshaw said the practice was looking forward to expanding its services to private customers in Picton.
"We see a lot of patients in Blenheim that have come through from Picton and we know it can be a struggle for some of them to drive through.
"We've already got the contract to work for the school students, so this is an opportunity for us to make the most of the clinic."
The service is tipped to be made available on Wednesdays, but that will be determined by demand.
