A student support group at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology has celebrated its 10th birthday with a free sausage sizzle and a giant birthday cake.
Students at the Blenheim campus in Budge St queued patiently for their free lunch yesterday to help mark the anniversary of the Student Association Nelson-Marlborough Institute of Technology Incorporated, or Saniti.
Student president Scott Tambisari said the group provided an independent voice for students, allowing them to concentrate on their studies.
Last week, the student organisation had 1350 members between the Blenheim and Nelson campuses, Mr Tambisari said.
The group represented students on the NMIT council and the academic board, he said.
