A Frenchman has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after falling off a cliff face in Marlborough.
The French national vineyard worker from Blenheim, believed to be in his late 30s, was flown to Wellington Hospital about 7pm.
A Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter spokesman said he understood the man was with a group of friends climbing the cliff faces at Whites Bay in Marlborough when he slipped and fell about 10m into the sea below.
He was treated by the helicopter’s onboard paramedic at the scene. Police, ambulance and fire services from Blenheim also attended.
