The Marlborough District Council's assets and services committee have agreed to change the name of a street to that requested by residents.

Councillors agreed in June to swap the names of two Canvastown streets after a signage error about 20 years ago mixed them up.

Greig Ln was to become Templemans Rd and Templemans Rd was to become Greig Ln.

However, when it came to ratify the decision, the council held off because residents wanted a different name.

They were happy to rename Templemans Rd as Greig Ln, but wanted the other road to be become Rushs Ln, after the Rush family.

That change has now been agreed to by the council.
