One of the country's top spas, Marlborough Day Spa, will go on sale this week after owner Kelly Packham decided it was time for a new challenge.

Ms Packham has owned the spa in Renwick for seven years, but said she had achieved her business goal after the spa was voted the country's top beauty clinic and fourth-best spa by the New Zealand Association of Registered Beauty Therapists last year.

"I said in a staff meeting five years ago that I wanted to win an award in Marlborough and a New Zealand award," she said. "I have done that."

Ms Packham said the business had shown three years of steady profit and was in a good position for someone with new ideas to grow it.

She said she was looking forward to having some time to devote to her hobbies; she is studying to become a yoga instructor and is also learning deep tissue massage.

"I like to be hands on so I have been there [at the spa] a lot of the time and the rest of the time I was working on the business side, so it would be nice to have some time for me, not running a business."

Leaving will be hard, but she will still be living close by and said it would be nice to drive past the spa in Inkerman St and see lots of cars outside.

Marlborough Day Spa will be listed for sale with Harcourts Blenheim this week.
