Air New Zealand has reduced airfares on its regional routes, including a 9 per cent cut for a one-way fare between Blenheim and Auckland.
This will drop the standard fare from $109 to $99. The reduction followed a tourism forum in Nelson two weeks ago to identify ways the airline could work with regional areas to fast-track achievable tourism growth strategies.
Company short-haul airlines group general manager Bruce Parton said it was the first event of its type that Air New Zealand had held and was attended by representatives from Nelson, New Plymouth, Rotorua, Blenheim, Hawke's Bay, Tauranga and Queenstown.
The move followed cuts announced to Air New Zealand's domestic trunk fares last month and were in response to feedback from those who attended the forum, he said.
