Simon John Grant, 41, admitted two charges of domestic violence by breaching a protection order, as well as a charge of damaging the property of his former partner and entering her property in May, when he appeared in the Blenheim District Court yesterday.
Grant, formerly a chef of Witherlea, lives in Christchurch and works as a construction worker.
Judge Tony Zohrab said the incident was a nasty one and said Grant's conduct was inexcusable. Grant was ordered to continue the methadone programme he is on and was sentenced to an additional 90 hours' community work.
