The new sports complex on Endeavour Park, Picton, is one step closer to completion after a donation from the sale of plastic bags at The Warehouse, Blenheim.
Every six months The Warehouse chooses an organisation to donate the profits it makes from the sale of the 10-cent plastic bags. From February to the end of July, more than $1100 was raised, which has been donated to Endeavour Park, next to Queen Charlotte College on Waikawa Rd.
The Warehouse Blenheim fundraising co-ordinator Eileen Garlick said the nationwide scheme was a way for each shop across New Zealand to give back to the community. Endeavour Park Pavilion Society chairman Graham Gosling said generous donations had kept the building project going.
The pavilion was not quite half completed, but should be finished by May, Mr Gosling said.
