Two teenagers were arrested in Blenheim yesterday afternoon after one of them was spotted with a knife on the street, police say.
Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said a member of the public reported seeing a teenager picking up a knife from a garden near the Plunket building on Henry St, said .
The 15-year-old and 16-year-old were both arrested and would remain in police custody until their parents or caregivers could be notified, Mr Holdaway said.
A dog handler and at least six police officers attended the incident.
The youths were co-operating and helping police with inquiries into a burglary on Friday where grocery items were taken from Countdown supermarket and stashed on the Plunket property, Mr Holdaway said.
