About 80 teenagers dressed in little more than undies, blue paint and the occasional hat took part in the annual Marlborough Boy's College grundy run this afternoon.
The boys swarmed from a bus, hooting air horns, waiving the school flag and chanting, as they ran a circuit through the grounds of Marlborough Girls' College before gathering on the main school field where about 200 cheering, laughing girls ringed the group in a crowd four or five deep as the boys performed a mass haka.
The boys then gathered briefly near the school fence on Nelson St, chanting at passing cars before being shooed away by a pair of teachers.
For the second year, the run doubled as a fundraiser for the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Each boy had to pay $5 to enter and organisers said they had collected $400 this morning.
Neither school principal was available for comment this afternoon.
