Accountants meet in town

Blenheim accounting firm Winstanley Kerridge is hosting the New Zealand Association of Independent Chartered Accountants' (NZCA) annual meeting and conference this weekend.

NZCA is an association of independent chartered accountants. Sixty of their members and partners are in Blenheim for the meeting at the Marlborough Convention Centre, which begins today.

Members who specialised in agriculture met yesterday to discuss valuations, livestock and tax, before a meal at Raupo last night and a tour of the Yealands Estate winery this morning.

Winstanley Kerridge director Greg King said this was the first time the meeting had been held in Blenheim and it was a great opportunity to showcase the region.

Speakers from law, tax and communications firms in Wellington and Auckland would speak about tax, technology, directors' responsibilities and social media.

But it was not all business. The conference was a time to network, share ideas and knowledge and explore the region, Mr King said.

The members' partners' social programme includes a half-day wine tour option.

There will be a dinner/dance at Drylands Restaurant tonight, a tour of the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre and a winemakers' dinner at Marlborough Vintners Hotel tomorrow, and a trip to Lochmara Lodge on Sunday. There will also be the chance to visit the Hunter's Garden Marlborough fete on Sunday.
