Further 43 residential sections set to be sold
A further 43 residential sections in Blenheim are to be sold by the Marlborough District Council.
Mayor Alistair Sowman said yesterday the sections were the third stage of the council's Boulevard Park-on-Taylor subdivision along Taylor Pass Rd in the south-west section of Blenheim.
The 18 sections in the second stage of the subdivision had sold "steadily", with 14 sold during the past nine months and the remaining four lots under contract.
There had been more positive signals in the area, with inquiries coming from private buyers and from the building sector, he said.
"The same boulevard concept used for the earlier stages has been adopted for this next stage, including sections set back from the road, formed swales, meandering tree-lined footpaths and side-road property access."
The development is managed by council subsidiary MDC Holdings Ltd and will be marketed by Harcourts Marlborough.
Consent had been granted for 43 lots in this latest stage, Mr Sowman said, but Harcourts would decide when to release the sections to the market. Titles for the new lots would be available about mid-2013.
"The decision is good for the civil construction industry and will ultimately flow into the building sector and through to the local community."
The land alongside Taylor Pass Rd was bought with the long-term aim of providing up to 350 sections.
