Marlborough Roads contractors HEB Construction have cleaned up the charred, sticky mess left from the truck fire on State Highway 1 near Koromiko on Saturday morning.
The freight truck caught fire while driving towards Picton about 1.45am on Saturday, not Friday as reported yesterday.
It took Picton volunteer firefighters almost three hours to douse the blaze, which was fuelled by the truck's load of chocolate, jam and kiln-dried timber, and left a large pile of sticky rubble.
Marlborough Roads general manager Frank Porter said HEB Construction picked up four or five truckloads of debris and took it to the landfill yesterday.
The road surface at the site of the incident needed repairs after it was damaged either by the heat of the fire or the heavy machinery, Mr Porter said.
