Marlborough Merino Association chairman Hamish Oswald took away both commercial prizes at the 140th annual A&P Show on Friday and Saturday.

Sheep from Robert and Hamish Oswald's Duntroon property in the Awatere Valley won the pen of three hoggets and commercial pair of ewes classes. Shearers shore the 12 pens of hoggets. Dave Carr, of SGS in North Canterbury, measured the micron of each fleece, which was then ranked by Blair Davies of the NZ Merino Company.

Silver Fern Farms Marlborough livestock representative Ben Greenslade assessed sheep's weight and meat yield then calculated their value on the weekly schedule.

Results were:

Three commercial hoggets judged on meat and wool value, Robert and Hamish Oswald 1, Steve Murray and Bob Butt of Kilgram Run 2, Steve and Mary Satterthwaite of Muller Station 3.

Highest carcass value, Duntroon. Highest wool value, Muller Station.

Commercial pair of ewes; R and H Oswald 1, Graham Cooper of Homebrook 2, Simon Fowler of the Bounds 3.
