Region added to survey
Marlborough will soon be able to compare its convention business performance with other regions on the New Zealand "conference circuit".
Destination Marlborough general manager Tracy Johnston said Marlborough had been added to the national Convention Activity Survey, which measured and compared the economic impacts of conferences.
The survey is administered by the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment, which collects data from conference venues.
The Marlborough Convention Bureau would fund the region's participation in the survey and would be encouraging all conference venues to contribute to the monthly data collection, she said.
Destination Marlborough operates the bureau to co-ordinate and build the conference, meeting and incentive markets. Funding comes from bureau members, including conference and accommodation venues and activity and transport operators.
