Top tips for coffee aficionados
Back to school for LeonSONIA BEAL
An expo for Marlborough coffee lovers at the weekend was the perfect opportunity for CPR Coffee soon-to-be owners Leon and Hayley MacDonald to hone their coffee-making skills.
The CPR Coffee Expo was held at the firm's Wynen St premises for people to learn about all things coffee.
CPR Coffee owners Christina Mackay and Bill Musgrove have sold their business to the MacDonalds, who take ownership on November 30.
While Mr MacDonald said it would be some time before he mastered the art of making a good coffee, the former All Black was keen to make and serve the brew to customers as soon as he was ready.
"I think it's going to take a little more practice for now," he said.
Featured sessions at the coffee expo included the process of roasting coffee beans, a barista course, cupping, or how to taste single-origin coffees, and the finer details of latte art.
Latte art fans also had the chance to learn from one of the best yesterday - internationally renowned coffee expert Emma Markland-Webster, of Nelson, travelled to Blenheim to lead a couple of the workshops.
