Police are warning Marlborough people not to respond to scam mail after an increase in the letters being sent out asking for personal details.
Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said about 20 people had reported receiving letters in the mail during the past month promising vast amounts of money in exchange for a few personal details.
"In no way should the recipients of these scam letters supply any personal detail such as name, address, phone numbers, email address and definitely no bank account details," he said.
