A man allegedly caught driving a stolen vehicle in Tuamarina had crashed another stolen car in the area only hours earlier, police say.
Police stopped the man in Tuamarina about 2.35am yesterday.
Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said the first stolen vehicle had been taken from Nikau Dr, in Redwoodtown After the car crashed on the Tuamarina track, the driver allegedly stole another.
In the Blenheim District Court yesterday, Daniel Jade Cook, 31, unemployed of Blenheim, appeared on two charges of unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, one charge of driving while forbidden and one charge of unlawful possession of instruments capable of stealing the cars. He was remanded to reappear on Monday.
