A 52-year-old man cut from a car after a crash in Blenheim on Wednesday night remains in a stable condition in Wairau Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said yesterday.
St John Ambulance operations team manager Richard Edwards said the man had been taken to Wairau Hospital about 9.30pm with moderate chest and shoulder injuries. Constable Andrew Holdaway said the accident happened on the corner of Battys and Lakings roads when a silver Ford Laser car failed to give way and hit a white Nissan Homy van.
A police dog unit tracked the driver of the van after he ran away from the crash. He was later processed for drink-driving.
