A 76-year-old woman in a car which left the road and hit a bank on Rai Saddle between Rai Valley and Nelson has been airlifted to Wairau Hospital.
A Wairau Hospital duty nurse manager said the Blenheim woman was still in hospital today. She was in a stable condition.
The woman was one of three passengers in a car returning to Marlborough from the Nelson A&P show according to the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter service which flew her to hospital at about 3.45pm.
The two other passengers and the driver were uninjured.
A St John intensive care paramedic on board the helicopter treated the woman, helped at the scene by a St John Ambulance crew from Havelock.
No other vehicles were involved.
