Girls outnumber boys in champs

MGC A are the only Marlborough side in division one and the host province's top girls team are expected to be serious contenders for the overall title. They are seeded second behind Waimea College A and will play alongside Aranui High, Burnside High B and Timaru Girls' High in pool B.

In division two, MGC Blue (B) are third seeds and face Middleton Grange A, St Andrew's College, Riccarton High B and Kaikoura High in pool L. MGC Gold (C) are seeded ninth and have Otago Girls A, Christchurch Girls B, Mountainview High and Nayland College B in pool J.

The 19 boys teams are all in one division, with the highly promising MBC A side seeded seventh overall. They are set to come up against top seeds Waimea College A, Shirley Boys' High, Nelson College B and Timaru Boys' High B in pool A.
