Staff sought for Pak 'n Save
Applications for 150 general positions at the new Pak 'n Save Blenheim supermarket opened yesterday.
Store owner Mark Elkington said recruiting staff was an exciting step for the Middle Renwick Rd supermarket, which was expected to open by Easter.
A high level of interest in the 150 jobs was expected after they received more than 150 applications for the seven management positions advertised last month, he said.
"This is a really exciting time."
The 6000 square metre store, which will include a petrol station and more than 300 car parks, is being built by Blenheim firm Robinsons Construction.
Mr Elkington and his partner, Andrea Boock, who have owned the Blenheim New World for two years, aim to have a management team organised by Christmas in time to hire the rest of the staff early in the new year.
Successful applicants would have the opportunity to progress with one of New Zealand's biggest retail brands, he said.
Vacancies will appear on the Foodstuffs website on Wednesday
Applications close on December 21.
