Charges of threatening to kill and wounding have been withdrawn against a Picton man arrested by the armed offenders squad after an incident in the Marlborough Sounds last month.
Jonathan Paul Lonie, 53, had been charged with threatening to kill and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after a Nelson man told police he had been assaulted, stabbed and thrown overboard from a yacht in Queen Charlotte Sound on October 30.
However, in court on Monday police withdrew the charges and replaced them with a single charge of assault using a knife as a weapon.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Mark Harris said the change in charges came after further investigation of information from the victim.
