Marlborough Express photographer Derek Flynn is runner-up again at the annual Australia New Zealand Aviation Media Awards, with a portfolio of work including this picture of Josh Steel, 3, waiting at Marlborough Airport for his father's flight to take off on August 14 when Beechcraft 1900D planes were taken out of service because of cracks.
Flynn won the competition in 2007, 2008 and 2009, was highly commended in 2010 and runner-up last year.
He said yesterday it was great to back up last year's runner-up picture of the Q300 nose-wheel landing at Woodbourne with another second placing.
''My favourite image in the portfolio was captured at Sydney Airport on an iPhone, which is a bit of a novelty''
The Australian judges and Air NZ had been good to him over the years.
