The annual Marlborough Lines and McDonald's Blenheim Christmas Parade will roll through town this Saturday from 2pm, with a pre-parade concert at 1pm.

The parade is set to be at full capacity with 34 floats, featuring everything from monster trucks to miniature ponies, dogs dressed in Christmas outfits, bands and walking group, and of course Santa riding the Marlborough Lines Santa's sleigh float. The parade is an all-Marlborough affair, with each float having been put together by a Marlborough business or organisation.

"The parade is such a great event not only for the community to see but also for all those groups and volunteers involved - it really gets the community working together," said Marlborough 4 Fun chief executive, Katrina Lange.

She said organisers had worked hard to ensure the festivities and fun were non-stop, with pre-parade street entertainers to entertain those lining up for the parade. There will also be a concert at the Forum, Market Place, with Christmas songs from Emma Logan and Christiana Stuart.

But don't head home after the parade as it will be followed straight after by the Cracker Christmas Festival, sponsored by The Marlborough Chamber of Commerce.

"These are two fantastic events that are enjoyed by a huge cross-section of the community and it's always great for myself and the rest of the team that have worked so hard on the events to see so many people, especially kids, enjoying themselves," said Katrina.

The parade is due to run for around an hour with a great afternoon of family fun planned starting at approximately 3pm, with a medley of upbeat and Christmas-themed songs from the fantastic all-girl band The Hummingbirds as well as the beautiful harmonies of Fella Voce. For the kids Marlborough 4 Fun are bringing a magical Christmas feel with snow machines, Santa's cave and many other free kids activities.
