A 40-year-old man has been arrested after refusing to leave the Work and Income building in Blenheim.

Police said the unemployed man was arrested for disorderly behaviour at 3.20pm on Wednesday.

Police were called after the man stood at the main doors of the building, in Alfred St, yelling at staff.

He was given a pre-charge warning and was released when he had calmed down.

A 35-year-old man was arrested early yesterday for assaulting a female and breaching a protection order.

Police said the unemployed man was arrested at 3.45am after going to the woman's house while he was drunk. He was held in custody and was to appear in the Blenheim District Court.
