Dillon family funeral
The funeral being held for Jimma Dillon in Marlborough on Wednesday is for his family, friends and acquaintances, his daughter says.
Michal Wells said the family would welcome people to the funeral who wanted to share their memories of their father and celebrate his life.
The funeral service will be held at the family property, Rumble Bay, at 1pm on Wednesday.
A report in the Marlborough Express on Monday suggested the funeral would be a private one, which led people to believe it would be a small service for only immediately family and close friends.
However, it would be private in that the family did not want any media attention and publicity.
Anyone who knew Mr Dillon would be welcome to join the family at the funeral service, Mrs Wells said.
The Express apologises for any confusion caused by its story.
It is understood Mr Dillon died in his sleep last week and was found on Thursday morning.
The father of three girls, including Honor Carter, wife of All Black first five Dan Carter, Mr Dillon was a Picton house and garden designer.
The week before last, Mr Dillon had welcomed news that Dan and Honor were expecting their first child.
The couple married almost a year ago at Timara Lodge, near Blenheim, in a celebrity-studded event.
Jimma Dillon was a well-known architect and one of the houses he designed was a winner in the Nelson-Marlborough House of the Year Awards earlier this year.
One of his most prominent buildings is The Store at Kekerengu, on the main highway south of Blenheim.
Built in 1995 by Sue and Richard McFarlane, the distinctive building was designed by Mr Dillon, who was Sue McFarlane's cousin.
The Dillons are a large extended family, well-known in farming circles in Marlborough.
Honor Carter tweeted on Friday: "Devastated by the sudden loss of my amazing father. Such a talented, respected & widely loved man who will leave a huge hole in our lives :("
