An 84-year-old farmer, missing for two nights in Nelson Lakes National Park, is safe after making it to a remote farmhouse last night.
Feilding hunter Roy Marston was reported missing on Monday evening after failing to meet his companions near the Sabine Hut at the head of Lake Rotoroa.
Search teams led by Nelson police scoured the area for two days but found no trace of Mr Marston. At 7pm yesterday, he arrived at a Tutaki Valley farmhouse, about 20 kilometres across rugged country from the search area.
He was being checked at Murchison Hospital but police said he appeared to be in good health.
Sergeant John Maxwell, of Nelson, said Mr Marston was an experienced hunter.
