A 15-metre branch from a liquid amber tree has fallen from a Maxwell Rd property across the footpath blocking one lane of traffic on Maxwell Road at about 3.15pm today.
Nobody was hurt and there was no damage to property.
An arborist contracted to the Marlborough District Council Jarred Worner, 28, said that species of tree was prone to snapping in high winds.
''For the last few years the weather has been getting stormy around this time of year and there have been things snapping off," he said.
The road remained open and contractors took about 30 minutes to clear the debris.
