Dressing up in something imaginative - be it silly or splendid - for next year's sevens in Wellington could bag you a $10,000 prize.

The Museum Art Hotel Costume Catwalk - in association with The Dominion Post - will again be part of the Hertz Sevens in 2013, giving those with flair for dress-up a place to strut their stuff.

The inaugural competition last year attracted about 600 entrants, with the Lego group from Palmerston North winning the supreme prize.

GREAT COSTUMES: The pavlova girls were out in force at last year's Wellington Sevens.

Hotel owner Chris Parkin, who is funding the $30,000 prize pool, said costumes would be judged on flamboyance, cleverness and how much work had gone into them.

There will be five categories, including best male, female, group, couple and "creative Wellington".

The winners will then compete for the $10,000 supreme title.

The competition will take place on the stadium concourse from 1pm till 2.30pm on February 1 and 2.

Contestants will be able to register online.
