A Picton waitress is not allowed to own a car for a year after being caught drink driving.

In the Blenheim District Court on Monday, Lorraine Polly Grant, 20, admitted excess breath alcohol of 544mcg (legal limit 400mcg) and was sentenced to 100 hours' community work, disqualified from driving for eight months, ordered to hold a zero alcohol licence when she gets her licence back, and ordered not to own a motor vehicle for a year. She had one previous conviction for breaching the youth drink drive level in 2010.

Also on Monday, Katrina Eugene Heremaia, 44, of Blenheim admitted picking up a knife during an argument with her ex-partner and was sentenced to 60 hours' community work.
