Police are asking for information after two people were attacked in Picton early this morning.

Sergeant Kris Payne, of Picton, said a 19-year-old Picton woman told police she was attacked by a man on Waikawa Rd about 2.30am.

The offender was described as a large caucasian man with scruffy facial hair, wearing a red t-shirt with a Chicago Bulls singlet over the top, red shorts and a red hat

The woman told police she was walking home with a friend but got separated.

The man confronted her on Waikawa Rd, near the Picton Marina entrance.

He grabbed her, pushed her up against a van and made several sexual comments.

She managed to push him off her and walked away, calling a friend as she did so.

Minutes before, a 22-year-old man was also attacked in the same area and had a necklace stolen.

Police believe the same offender was involved in both attacks.

Police are asking anyone who was on Waikawa Rd or in Picton town around the time of the attacks who saw anyone involved in the attacks to please contact Picton police on (03) 520 3120.
