Man fined for fighting

A Blenheim man involved in a fight broken up by police using pepper spray outside the Loft Bar in Blenheim was convicted and fined when he appeared in the Blenheim District Court on Friday.

Michael John Tynan admitted one charge of fighting in public before justices of the peace Beverley Pitts and David Whyte.

The incident involved Tynan and another man outside the bar at 1.30am on September 2.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Mark Harris, of Blenheim, said Tynan had taken exception to the other man and police had to break up the fight with pepper spray.

The other party had already been dealt with through the court and fined $250.

Tynan was fined $250.

Others sentenced in the court on Friday:

Reginald Anthony Mischeski, 37, of Canvastown, was convicted and fined $270 for failing to provide information.

Olataga Sekai, 19, unemployed, of Riversdale, was convicted and fined $450 for driving a motor vehicle carelessly on State Highway 1 on December 4.
