Drunks kept in cells to sober up
Police and St John Ambulance representatives say drunken and disorderly behaviour has been rife in central Blenheim during the weekend.
A spokesman said several men, aged between 19 and 25, were arrested on Friday night and left to sober up in the police cells.
If the men had no history of disorderly behaviour, they were released with pre-charge warnings.
Acting Sergeant Paul Webber said it was a similar story on Saturday night.
Apart from this, there was little crime reported in town.
St John Ambulance operations team manger Rebecca Lee said Blenheim night shift crews had been kept busy treating intoxicated people.
