Police were called to a house in Litchfield St, Blenheim after a woman allegedly smashed a window and a cellphone and then refused to leave.

Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said police were called at 2.45am yesterday after an argument broke out among a group of people who had been drinking alcohol.

No charges were laid, he said.

Police also arrested a 35-year-old woman yesterday and charged her with breaching bail.

She was arrested at 3.55am and was held in custody to appear in the Blenheim District Court yesterday.

Another hearing delay

The date for a court hearing for a man accused of bashing 23 seals to death near Kaikoura in 2010 has been delayed again.

The hearing date to decide whether Jemaal Peter Roy Large, 37, of Wairau Valley, will face trial on a charge of wilfully ill-treating the seals was to be set yesterday.

However, Mr Large's lawyer David Clark said yesterday's telephone conference had been postponed until late next week.

Mr Large has been charged with clubbing the seals to death with a galvanised steel pipe at Ohau Pt on November 26, 2010.
