Marlborough Aero Club is organising the country's first national short take off and landing (STOL) competition this coming weekend, attracting aviators from across New Zealand with a total cash prize of $2000.
The event is being sponsored by Dr Dave's Healthy Bastards campaign, which aims to raise awareness of male health issues.
In an event where less is more, pilots will compete to take off and land their aircraft in the shortest distance, and precision land on a reference point.
The competition will be held from noon on Saturday.
Visiting pilots and their aircraft will compete throughout the day culminating in a guest band and a spit roast dinner.
Take a picnic out to Omaka Aerodrome on Saturday and enjoy the atmosphere.
